Technomelt Supra ECO

The most sustainable hot melt adhesive in the world - the first carbon-negative hot melt adhesive, developed by Henkel and Dow Chemicals, certified by ISCC.

Technomelt Supra ECO - carbon-negative hot melt adhesive

Technomelt Supra ECO is a new addition to the Supra range, developed to bring sustainable value to end-of-line packaging. It is the world's first fully certified carbon-negative hot melt adhesive.

Using a mass-balance approach certified to the ISCC standard, Supra ECO delivers a saving of 0.4419 kg CO₂ per kilogram of adhesive used. By using responsibly sourced raw materials and technology that helps reduce emissions, this product supports circular-economy principles without compromising the reliability and performance the Supra range is known for.

This revolutionary product is made with 81% ISCC-certified renewable content, is compatible with paper recycling streams, and contains responsibly sourced raw materials such as Tall Oil (a paper-industry byproduct) - reducing waste.

Key benefits

  • Negative carbon footprint from production to factory gate (cradle-to-gate): −0.4419 kg CO₂ per kilogram of adhesive (GWP over a 100-year period, expressed in kg CO₂ equivalent).
  • 81% renewable content certified to the ISCC standard within the formulation.
  • Simple application, just like standard Supra products - enabling lower consumption and lower costs compared with conventional adhesives.
  • Outstanding performance and reliable bonding, with no compromise on quality.
  • Safe for food contact, with extremely low migration.
  • Compatible with recycling processes in line with EPRC guidelines.
  • Renewable-based materials are fully traceable across the entire supply chain.

Why does this matter?

According to Henkel data, the carbon footprint of a standard polyolefin hot melt adhesive is around 328 tonnes of CO2 per year. At an average consumption of 100 tonnes of adhesive per year, that's the equivalent of 71 ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) cars in use for a full year.

Technomelt Supra ECO is the first carbon-negative hot melt adhesive, delivering a saving of 372 tonnes of CO2 per year - equivalent to the carbon absorbed by 6,100 tree saplings over 10 years of growth.

This unique product is the first of its kind in the world and represents a sustainable solution for the packaging industry - paving the way toward a more circular economy.
